Benefits of Grassfed Lamb
Lamb you buy from Brooks Farm is 100% grassfed (never placed in feedlots) and have never been given growth hormones or antibiotics.
The omega-3 content of lamb depends upon the young sheep's diet as well as the mother's diet, but when those diets are nutritionally supportive, the result can be a cut of lamb with an impressive amount of omega-3s. Omega-3's are associated with a decreased risk of inflammation, heart disease, high blood pressure, and an irregular heartbeat. Omega-3's are good for your brain as well, creating less chance for depression, Schizophrenia, attention deficit disorders and hyperactivity, and Alzheimer's disease. Omega-3's may also reduce your risk of cancer.
Also, grassfed lamb contains nearly twice as much conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) - a good fat - as conventionally fed lamb. The intake of CLA has been proven to be associated with improved immune and inflammatory function, improved bone mass, improved blood sugar regulation, reduced body fat, and better maintenance of lean body mass, as well as reducing the risk of cancer as well.
Vitamin E is also higher in grassfed meats, as high as four times the amount. Vitamin E is linked to a lower risk of heart disease and cancer, and it may have anti-aging properties.
Because our lambs graze in large paddocks in lush grass pastures, their overall fat levels are reduced. The foraging process has been shown to lower total fat content because lambs out on pasture are more active and the greater level of activity cause the animals to develop more muscle and burn more calories, producing lean, fit, and healthy lambs. Also, lambs on pasture likely eat less due to having more activity; therefore, they focus less on feeding regimens.

About Lamb
Lamb is the meat from young sheep that are less than twelve months old, often between six and eight months. Lamb belongs to a group of mammals known as ruminants. Ruminants have a unique digestive system enabling them to stay healthy on a diet of grasses and forage plants.
